About the Platinum Silver Arowana

The Platinum Silver Arowana is a rare and highly prized color morph of the Silver Arowana. Unlike the standard silver, these fish display a brilliant metallic platinum-white coloration that can appear almost iridescent under proper lighting. This morph is the result of selective breeding for a unique genetic trait that enhances the reflective qualities of the scales.

Appearance

Platinum Silver Arowanas have a bright, silvery-white body with a distinct metallic sheen. The scales often reflect light with a mirror-like quality, giving the fish a luminous appearance. The fins are usually translucent with a white or pale yellow hue. Their eyes are normally colored (dark), distinguishing them from albino variants. As they mature, the platinum coloration may become more intense.

Size & Growth

Platinum Silver Arowanas grow to the same size as standard Silvers, reaching 24-30 inches in captivity. They are fast growers and require large tanks with excellent water quality.

Tank Requirements

A minimum tank size of 300 gallons is recommended for an adult Platinum Silver. The tank should be long (at least 8 feet) with a secure lid. Strong filtration and regular water changes are essential. Water parameters: temperature 75-86°F, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard water.

Diet

Platinum Silver Arowanas are carnivorous and thrive on a varied diet: high-quality floating or sinking pellets, live or frozen shrimp, crickets, small fish, and earthworms.

Compatibility

Like other Silver Arowanas, Platinum Silvers can be kept with large, peaceful tank mates such as stingrays, large catfish, and robust cichlids. Avoid smaller fish that may be eaten. Only one arowana per tank is recommended.
