About the Super Red Arowana

The Super Red Arowana, also known as Blood Red or Chili Red, is the most coveted color variant of Asian Arowana. Native to Southeast Asia, this species is revered as a symbol of prosperity and good luck. Our Super Reds are selectively bred for intense red coloration, broad body shape, and large scales.

Appearance

Juveniles display a silvery base with hints of red at the fins. As they mature, the deep red color develops fully, covering the body and fins. High-quality specimens exhibit a rich, blood-red hue with metallic luster. Fin rays are often red, and the eyes are large and expressive.

Size & Growth

In captivity, Super Red Arowanas can reach 24-28 inches (60-70 cm) with proper care. Growth rate depends on tank size, diet, and water quality. Our fish are captive-bred and acclimated to aquarium life.

Tank Requirements

A minimum tank size of 250 gallons is recommended for an adult Super Red. The tank should be long (at least 8 feet) to allow swimming. Provide a tight-fitting lid – Arowanas are powerful jumpers. Filtration must be robust, and water changes of 20-30% weekly are essential.

Diet

Offer a varied diet for optimal health and color: high-quality pellets (sinking), live or frozen shrimp, crickets, mealworms, small fish, and color-enhancing foods containing natural carotenoids.

Compatibility

Super Reds can be kept with other large, peaceful fish such as stingrays, large cichlids, and catfish. Avoid housing two Arowanas together unless in a very large tank with a bonded pair. They may view smaller fish as prey.
